Hepstedt...

is a village community in the surrounding countryside north of Bremen with approximately 1000 inhabitants. It belongs to the Tarmstedt municipality and the Rotenburg district. Hepstedt was first chronicled in the official records of Emperor Heinrich II in 1004 A.D. Burial mounds and urns discovered in the region clearly indicate human settlement since the Bronze Age. Two thirds of Hepstedt’s 3000 hectare farmland is pasture, used by local farmers for livestock production of cattle and horses. The arable land usuage is divided into cereals, sweet corn, potatoes and turnips. In a westerly direction of approximately 2 km, one reaches the Teufelsmoor. (Devil’s moor). There one can observe a rich variety of protected fauna and flora in blissfully quiet suroundings. To the east lies the Ummel, a mixed forest with small lakes, springs and inviting walks. The Ummelbad is a heated public swimming pool with caravan/camping grounds offering a; pleasantly relaxing holiday atmosphere.
